Traveler's Zone by Chris Pavesic Blog Tour with Exclusive Excerpt and Giveaway

Chris Pavesic continues the amazing story of Cami Malifux with Book 2 of the Revelation Chronicles.

Escape from a world of darkness into a magical realm of limitless adventure.

About the Book:

In Starter Zone, Cami kept herself and her younger sister Alby alive in a post-apocalyptic world, facing starvation, violence, and death on a daily basis. Caught by the military and forcefully inscribed, Cami manages to scam the system and they enter the Realms, a Virtual Reality world, as privileged Players rather than slaves. They experience a world of safety, plenty, and magical adventure. Indeed, magic, combat, gear scores, quests, and dungeons are all puzzles to be solved as Cami continues her epic quest to navigate the Realms and build a better life for her family. But an intrusion from her old life threatens everything she has gained and imperils the entire virtual world.

The Starter Zone is safe. We had the choice to remain here, back when we first started training with Tanyl. But I didn't take it. I couldn't.
No matter how comfortable we would be, without the ability to move forward, without new challenges and new experiences, it would be a prison.
Safety is one thing. Stagnation is another.
And I'm interested in exploring this world. Seeing what it has to offer.
Alby can't come with me yet into the regular realms. You need to be eighteen years old to leave the Starter Zone or other safe areas like the Homesteads. I'm seventeen, but I qualify because I am also our family's Founder. That status gives me a lot of perks.
But Alby can go to one of the schools while I explore. She's been buzzing with excitement about becoming a tinkerer. And a potion maker. And an armorer. And a weapon smith. And so many other things. But before she can do that, we need to set up our Homestead.
Tanyl hustles us into a room that is filled with pods that look like they were pulled from some sort of futuristic space ship. The top and the bottom of each pod is a flat disc that has been carved out of marble and etched with symbols. Each has a distinct pattern. A beam of blue, sparkly light fills the exact center of one pod. The others have red beams in the same position.
Warning! You are approaching a one-way Transport Portal. Review: Yes/No?
Transport Portals allow travel between distant points in the realm. A player or NPC can step into the light and be instantly transported to MidWorld or one of the major cities in the realms. Each transport portal is linked to a specific other portal and can only be changed by its owner or a designated user.
Transport portals are programmed as one-way or two-way. One-way portals allow travel from Point A to Point B, but do not allow return travel along the same path. Two-way transport portals allow free travel between Point A and Point B. They are extremely rare.
Learn more about programming a Transport Portal? Yes/No?
"No." There will be plenty of time to learn about that in the future. And I'm sure I will hear about it from the AI. Over and over again.
"Is it safe?" Alby asks.
"Yes," Tanyl replies. "This portal leads to MidWorld. The other portals lead to the major cities in Realm One, Two, and Three. But you can't use them yet. They're locked until you physically visit the cities. It's a precaution so that players cannot transport to areas too high for their levels."
"So we walk into the blue light and end up at MidWorld?"
This earns me an arched eyebrow. "Very succinctly stated."
"And now you're back to normal."
I grin.
"The first time you use a portal it is best to do it as fast as possible. Don't linger in the light. Step forward. And for heaven's sake, don't jump." He shakes his head. "Every player thinks it's a new idea to jump through the portal. That it's somehow," he narrows his eyes at me, "cool."
"Gotcha," I say, winking at Alby and L.G. "Meet you two on the other side."
I walk up to the blue light and jump.

Praise for the Revelation Chronicles:
"She entered the game and I was hooked. I don't even play that kind of computer game, but the story was as addicting as I imagine a real MMORPG to be. Each level up, each new character, each new threat drew me in. I wish I could read the next book already!" --Kata, NetGalley Reviewer
"I love the dystopian genre, and a lot of the problem I run into is a lot of them are boring and follow the same storyline. This one is so different it's amazing. I cannot recommend this enough. It's sci-fi, it's dystopian, and it fresh. A definite must read that I plan on reading again!" --Liliyana S., NetGalley Reviewer
“Both sisters are strong female characters who are good role models for young girls.  This story is filled with suspense and adventure with a taste of the gaming world.  It is the first LITRPG book that I have read and I really enjoyed it." --Teresa O, Educator
"This book was amazing! The story line, along with the development of the characters was phenomenal. This book is very well paced, and easy to follow. Seeing the story play out for the characters, along with the lessons you gain from reading this book, makes it one of my new favorites. For, this book is more than just another dystopia novel. It's basis is on family love, and what you'd do to keep them safe. It's a young adult novel, yet is appropriate for anyone above the age of 10. I would highly suggest reading this book ASAP. You won't regret it!"--Almaz D, Reviewer
