It's the summer of 1968 in Sonoma County, California, and eleven-year-old Weston Gregg and his nine-year-old sister, Wendy, are looking for fun things to do during their summer break from school. When they discover some abandoned rabbits, they hatch an idea to make a positive difference for animals and people in their small town of Tyler Stop.

They decide to form 'Rescue Each Species-Quickly', or RES-Q Tyler Stop.

There are challenges to face as they move forward into their new venture, including standing up to someone who is targeting Weston's friends for being different and a painfully bad decision.

Will Weston have to handle these issues on his own or will he learn to accept the advice and wisdom shared by some important people in his life? Join Weston and his family and friends as they share some adventures and learn and grow together in RES-Q Tyler Stop.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK:

"Adventure has no end in this tale, where a heart for animals inspires and surprises await around every bend. . . . The characters and the situations they face come across realistic, and the scenes develop naturally. Not only does the author keep a nice paced plot rolling along but adds interesting and practical information about animals and ways to handle certain situations along the way. It makes for a fun mix of fiction and fact.

This appears to be the first book in the series, and I’m eager to see where the RES-Q Tyler Stop adventures will head to next." ~ Tonja Drecker, Author of Music Boxes

GUEST POST
Thank you for hosting me on your YA/NA Book Divas blog. I appreciate your joining up with the blog tour to celebrate my debut children's book. I'm looking forward to sharing with your readers how I developed the setting for this book and some of the music I listened to while I wrote this story.

The story is set in the summer of 1968 in Sonoma County in Northern California. The small rural town of Tyler Stop is where the main characters live and where much of the story takes place. I chose the name of the town because my grandparents were both born the 1890s in a small town in the South. Their hometown was 'Tylertown.'

After hearing many stories about Tylertown while I was growing up, the name stuck with me. I named the town in my book Tyler Stop as a reference to the railroad system in California. I guess you could say my naming the town after the birthplace of my grandparents was a tribute to them and to my family's history.

I think the culture of my fictional town is built upon my ideal small town community where people know and respect each other and where neighbors genuinely care about what happens to their neighbors. It's a place where people pitch in to help one another and where the citizens work together to solve problems to improve the town and make it a better place to live for themselves and the generations to come. It is not a utopia in any sense of the word because there are definitely issues to deal with in Tyler Stop, as you will learn when you read the book. However, positivity and a team attitude prevail there for the most part. Tyler Stop is a place where I feel I would belong.

Regarding my playlist—I've learned I need to write in a quiet, calm atmosphere. Some authors can write in a coffee shop or a library. Noise and commotion do not work for my learning or working styles. Therefore, I work in my home office where I can find solitude; it's a good place for me to create.

Most of the time I listen to a classical music station on my portable radio. I love the music of Mozart, Aaron Copland, Rodrigo, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Ravel, and many others. This music is soothing, and there isn't a lot of talk on this public radio station so it helps to create the perfect background environment for my writing time.

Readers may be interested to know I have completely different tastes in music when I am not working! Favorites for my 'recreational listening time' include Elton John, Boz Scaggs, the Doobie Brothers, the Beatles, George Benson, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Tracy Chapman, Barbra Streisand, Glen Campbell, Bruce Springsteen, Crosby/Stills/Nash, the Carpenters, Gordon Lightfoot, Broadway musicals, Gilbert & Sullivan's operettas, and movie soundtracks—the list goes on and on!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

She especially loves to write, read, and blog about middle-grade fiction and non-fiction on her 'Reading, Writing & Stitch-Metic' blog.

In addition to writing inspirational romance books and stories for adults {A Holiday Miracle in Apple Blossom, 2013; Robin's Reward, 2015; Handmade Hearts, 2019}, June's original sewing, quilting, and stitchery designs have been published in over one hundred books, magazines, and on sewing industry blogs in the past decade.

One of her most memorable and thrilling childhood adventures was her ride in the Goodyear blimp as it floated over Long Beach, California. She can still remember the people on the beach waving to her as she zoomed past them.
