Constructing A YA Romance Book
I love the YA genre. Young adults love, hate, and play hard in a arena where the world shines new and the future burns wide open. When I am writing or reading YA, if I dig deep inside, I can recapture those intense, wonderful, sometimes painful feelings and immerse myself in that world again through my character’s lives.
Cherokee Summer came to me while visiting the Cherokee Reservation.  The place sparked my story. Ace and John came to me next. Some of the other characters, like John’s twin sister Rae and Ace’s brother Zack, weaseled their way in while I was still in the daydreaming phase. When I sat down to write, I started at the beginning and wrote straight through to the end. Additional characters nudged their way in, and at times I changed course to make room for them.
